What is Permanent Makeup?
Permanent Makeup is also known as permanent cosmetics, derma-pigmentation, micro-pigmentation, and cosmetic tattooing. PMU (Permanent Makeup) is a cosmetic technique which implants hypoallergenic pharmaceutical grade pigments as a means of producing designs that resemble makeup, such as eyebrows, eyeliner and lips. Specific needles and nano-blades have been specially designed to be safely used on the face. Using these specific needles, we implant the pigment in the upper dermis layer of the skin (epidermis). This type of tattooing should not be confused with traditional body tattooing, which goes much deeper into the skin and doesn’t use suitable ink for the face.
PMU can be used to enhance colours, such as lip tint or eyeliner enhancement to make your lashes look darker. It is also used to produce artificial eyebrows, particularly in people who have had hair loss, or have sparse brows in general. Fine lines are drawn that look like hairs and these can be micro-weaved into your own natural hairs to restore a full natural brow. Some clients often opt for the powder brows so that their brows always look like they are makeup ready.
Permanent make up pigments are made from natural minerals and organic material and are designed to fade over time, lasting between 12-18 months after which you can top up your permanent make up with a maintenance treatment called a colour boost to refresh colour, shape and definition.

I have been exploring the realm of beauty for the majority of my life. My journey started when I was a child, in a house of 6 women and having a hand full of models to practice. This experience gave me insight into how I could transform the face with what feels like endless looks. Since those early days with my sisters, I’ve loved beauty, the treatments and the empowerment it gives us.
After a brief spell of creating hair and makeup wedding looks with my younger MUA sister, I thought it was time for some adventure. I decided to head out into the world for some travelling where I was lucky enough to experience different beauty styles and innovations across the globe. I witnessed first hand the huge benefits of having permanent makeup whilst travelling, especially in hot and humid climates.
Returning to the UK, I expanded my expertise and trained to do eyelash extensions, LVL and HD brow procedures, several years ago, and ultimately weaved my way into the realm of permanent makeup.
For my PMU training I chose to learn from the best, Katy Jobbins, one of the UK’s leading practitioners in the industry.
